CIMA Hospital is located in San Jose, Costa Rica and was opened in 2000. It is a large medical complex that takes pride in their state-of-the-art technology, superbly-trained staff and organized systems. Their affiliation with Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas has given them access to academic support and specialized training. CIMA is the first Hospital in the country that has received special accreditation by the government of Costa Rica. CIMA Hospital has the 170 on site, English speaking, qualified physicians (majority are board certified) representing over 60 specialties; 24 hour emergency facilities staffed with both adult and pediatric trauma-certified physicians; 6 bed fully monitored and staffed ICU; special shock and trauma emergency room; a complete imaging department including an open MRC, CT X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, a full service laboratory; 86 fully equipped, private, modern rooms and 14 luxury suites; emergency medical support and transport provided by affiliates throughout Costa Rica and a 24 hour pharmacy. It is the only hospital in Central America that is accredited by the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
More than 25 % of the patients at CIMA Hospital are foreigners. Medical tourists represent about 15% of all visits to Costa Rica. |
