Dental implants are one of the best options for replacing missing teeth or teeth that need to be replaced. However, top of the line implants do cost $2500 with implant and crown and so that's why people are going overseas to get dental implants.
While the cost of an implant and crown are a lot cheaper overseas, you need to make two trips. The first trip would be to get the implants and temporaries placed, and then, 4-6 months later once the bone around your implants have hardened, you would return to get your crowns put in.
Unless you are getting 4 or more implants (or 3 implants plus a bridge) put in, it is not worth going overseas for this procedure. Be careful of low cost implants however. The best, safest, and tried and true implants are from Nobel Biocare, Zimmer, Biomet, and Straumann (also more recently Osstem). Recently the market has been flooded with subpar implants. All we can say is BE CAREFUL, it's your mouth, don't go for cheap when you can get affordable (ask about our financing).
Dental Implants involve the placement of a "root device" which acts like an anchor to hold various dental prosthesis such as crowns, bridges, or full dentures. The versatility of the implant allows patients the choice of have individual implants to replace individual teeth, or smaller numbers of implants anchoring larger prosthesis such as bridges and anchors. The process is multi-step. First the implant, which somewhat resembles a titanium screw, is anchored into the jaw. It fuses with the natural bone and creates a stable post on which other prosthesis are anchored. The crown is connected to the implant after the implant has healed.
